Overview
This is a two day course which will introduce the learner to the retail sector, its size, different types of outlets and the range of occupations available within the sector.

What previous knowledge/experience/skills are required?
No previous knowledge is required although a basic ability to read and write in English will be required to gain the accreditation.

Course Content

• Comparing different types of retail outlets
• Looking at occupations within the retail trade
• Understanding the size of the retail sector
• Identifying environmental and ethical issues ?

What materials will I need for the course?
The tutor will provide all materials.

?How do we assess your progress on the course?
Learners will be asked to complete a small portfolio of evidence including annotating diagrams, contributing to group discussions and looking up facts on the internet.

What extra study/practice we expect you to do outside the class
There is no work required outside the course

How long will the course take?
This course runs for 5 hours a day for two days.

Progression

Learners will receive an entry and an exit information, advice and guidance session to support them in progressing either into further education or into employment.

* To be eligible for the course you must be aged 19 -24 at the beginning and end of the course; and not in employment, education or training. For the numeracy courses you must not already have a maths GCSE grade A-C. For the literacy course you must not already have a English GCSE grade A ? C.
